 New Patient Experience

Predictable dentistry occurs as a result of comprehensive and thorough

record taking

  examination and comprehensive treatment.

The aim of comprehensive treatment is to reduce negative occurrences like, fracture, infection, broken fillings, receding gums and gum disease and to treat the mouth as a functioning system rather than just treating individual teeth as they break. In this way we can increase the longevity of the system and prevent unnecessary future breakdown of the four parts of the system; teeth, gums, bone, joint.

To ensure that the soft tissues are healthy, oral cancer screening is carried out with a VELscope machine which detects cancerous and pre cancerous areas. If any abnormalities are detected the patient is then referred to the relevant specialist.

A risk assessment is carried out for each patient and a diagnostic opinion is produced. This will highlight the areas of health and concern and allow Dr Suri to discuss treatment options to maintain and rectify the oral condition.

Treatment recommendations are based on ideal treatments for the tooth and the system to ensure predictability and longevity. Everything suggested is based on current and past evidence and research in that particular field of dentistry. All treatment options are discussed in full and explained and patients are given the opportunity to ask questions at this appointment and future treatment planning sessions.

Any patient at Smile Design Dental Practice is not obliged to go ahead with any treatment recommended. Treatment acceptance is based on understanding and education so that all of our patients have the opportunity to make informed decisions

regarding their own health.
